Icepops pre-conference event on the lending of eBooks: free and open to all

We are delighted to announce the full programme for the free eBook lending event which is taking place on Wednesday 19 July as part of Icepops 2023. This includes Prof Rebecca Giblin (University of Melbourne and co-author of Chokepoint Capitalism) and Kyle K Courtney (Harvard University and co-author of the White Paper on Controlled Digital Lending) as well as other leading experts in the world of digital access to library content.

The event will address key aspects of library lending of eBooks and wider themes relating to digital access to knowledge. The event will include talks, posters, polls, open-floor debate and discussion around these issues. Included in the workshop will be a presentation by researchers working at CREATe, University of Glasgow on research looking at The Law and Economics of eLending in Europe. This study, funded by KR21/Arcadia, considers competition law dimensions of eLending by academic and public libraries.

The event is supported by CREATe at the University of Glasgow and we are really grateful to Dr Kenny Barr and Dr Matteo Frigeri for putting together this fantastic programme of speakers.
