Webinar 70: Third Party Copyright in Research Outputs

On Friday 31st May 2024, we are delighted to be joined by Tanya Aplin, Emily Hudson and Clare Painter for Webinar 70 to explore the UKRI (UK Research and Innovation) Open Access Policy.

The policy applies to in-scope monographs, book chapters and edited collections published on or after 1 January 2024. However, there is an exemption to the policy when reuse permissions for third party materials cannot be obtained and there is no suitable alternative option available to enable open access publication. This webinar will discuss the Good Practice Guide that was developed to help manage third party copyright for research publications and comply with the UK OA Policy.

Tanya Aplin is Professor of Intellectual Property Law at King’s College, having joined the Dickson Poon School of Law in September 2002 as a lecturer.

Emily Hudson is a Professor of Law at The University of Oxford. She is well known to the CoOLSIG community, having spoken “I can’t believe it’s not Icepops” in 2021 and at the genuine Icepops in 2022.

Clare Painter is founder and director of Clare Painter Associates Ltd, helping content-owning organisations to manage copyright issues and digital licensing, especially where licence terms need to be both effective and practical.

Please note that the webinar will be at the slightly later than usual time of 11.30am but you can join using the usual Blackboard Collaborate link, and as ever, a recording will be available afterwards on the ALT YouTube channel.
