The return of Copyright Waffle with Carys Craig: critical legal studies, copyright and cakes

We are delighted to have finally started to clear our Copyright Waffle backlog with thanks to the editing skills of the fabulous Emma Guilbert. Carys Craig is a Professor of IP Law at Osgoode Hall Law school in Canada and we met her first during the pandemic when she ran a webinar for us with Bob Tarantino following publication of an article  “An Hundred Stories in Ten Days”: COVID-19 Lessons for Culture, Learning, and Copyright Law.

This episode was recorded in December 2022, but we met up with Carys again a few weeks ago, so we have some bonus content to bring it right up to date. She talks to us about her copyright history, about being in the right place at the right time, critical legal studies, the fact that copyright is not neutral, the saga of copyright litigation in Canadian universities, copyright anxiety and of course her favourite cake.

Do check out the podcast on Soundcloud, or wherever you get your podcasts from. We also hope you enjoy the musical tribute to Carys, that a certain Scottish singer / songwriter supposedly had a hand in writing!
