On Friday 11th October from 11am-12pm I’ll be talking to the Co-Chairs of the Library and Archive Copyright Alliance (LACA), Christy Henshaw, Head of Digital Production at Wellcome Collection, and Matthew Lambert, Head of Copyright, Policy and Assurance at the British Library. They’ll speak about LACA’s purpose and role in representing the sector, its focus areas and current work. As usual this webinar will take place on Blackboard Collaborate and is open to all. If you can’t join live, then we will be recording it and making it available on the ALT You Tube channel, where we keep all the recordings.
LACA’s mission, is to advocate for a fair and balanced copyright framework for the library, information and archive profession and their users as well as rights holders. LACA represented the sector during a time of significant change to the copyright and licensing landscape, including the addition of new copyright exceptions, implementation of the Orphan Works Licensing scheme, the development of the EU Copyright Directive and Brexit. More recently, LACA has been involved with IPO consultations on text and data mining, AI and copyright, and more.
The committee includes broad range of members with an interest in copyright legislation, policy, and implementation. This includes groups and organisations such as RLUK, SCONUL, ARA, university and museum libraries, Health Education England, national libraries, BFI, LIS-Copyseek, and more. The committee also includes experts in copyright law and EU/international developments.
This is our first webinar since the summer break so we look forward to seeing you!
