Webinar 68: The ALT ethical framework

On Friday 8th March we have the 68th webinar where we are joined by guests Natalie Lafferty (University of Dundee) and Sharon Flynn (Technological Higher Education Association) who will be speaking about ALT’s Framework for ethical Learning Technology (FELT). There is clearly some overlap between ethics and copyright, so we will explore this, but the webinar will be a chance to find out more about the development of the framework and it’s important role as part of ALT’s strategic aim to strengthen recognition and representation for Learning Technology professionals from all sectors.  The need for such a framework became increasingly urgent during the pandemic as Learning Technology was adopted on a larger scale than ever before and as the leading professional body for Learning Technology in the UK, representing 3,500 Members, ALT was well placed to lead this effort.

Natalie and Sharon will talk us through the development of the framework and our discussion will centre on the implications of copyright law and the FELT statement to “ensure practice complies with relevant laws and institutional policies.

They will be presenting some recent discussions within the learning technology community about the law and ethics and will also be inviting attendees to think about and share their own experiences of addressing these in their professional practice.

The webinar takes place at 11-12pm GMT on Blackboard Collaborate and we hope you will be able to join us but we will also be recording the event.
