On Friday November 10th 2023, in our next webinar, we will be hearing all about the Open Education Network.

The Open Education Network is a community of people working at higher education institutions, consortia and systems who support open educational practices. Launched in 2014, the OEN has grown to include people working at more than 1,600 member campuses in the US. Together through community, professional development and infrastructure, they are making education more affordable and equitable for students.
In Webinar 65, we are pleased to be joined by speakers who will be talking about how the Open Education Network (OEN) has grown from a small group of Open Education practitioners, why Brunel University and the University of Sheffield are the first two UK universities to join the OEN, and how they hope to encourage other libraries to benefit from the being part of the OEN community.
Their talk will cover providing support for academic authors interested in publishing or adapting Open Textbooks; outreach & engagement with academic colleagues, and the role that Open Textbook programmes can play in university EDI, sustainability and teaching strategies.
Karen Lauritsen is the Senior Director: Publishing at the Open Education Network. Karen has worked with educational communities for 20+ years and is dedicated to open knowledge production and sharing. She enjoys working with the community to strategically support people engaged in open textbook publishing in higher education.

Helen Moore is the Faculty Librarian for Engineering and Science at the University of Sheffield. She is part of the small team that has been raising awareness of open educational resources (OER) on campus for the past three years.
David Beales (University Librarian); Jo Mcphie (Liaison Librarian); Sam Pike (Liaison Librarian) and Anne Hutchinson (Head of Library Academic Services) have been developing an outreach and engagement programme at Brunel University based on the Open Education Network framework.
As ever, the webinar will start at 11:00 GMT and is available via Blackboard Collaborate. There’s no need to register in advance. Links to slides and recordings of (almost) all of our webinars are available from our webinar page.
This is our last regular webinar of 2023. But there will be one more online event on December 8th – the Big Fat Copyright Quiz of the Year with Matt Voigts from IFLA. Add it to your diary and start swotting up now!
