Copyright and audiovisual works: where are we now?

On Friday 18th July at 11am-12pm BST we will be running our 79th webinar. This session will be a closed session for those in the education community to discuss where we are with copyright issues related to audiovisual works. It’s now been a few years since Chris, Bart Meletti and I worked with Learning on Screen to publish the Code of Fair Practice for the use of audiovisual works in film education. We are interested in hearing from institutions who might be using this code to help them provide digitised audiovisual works to their staff and students. We also would like to have a broader conversation about how different institutions use broadcasts, film, video and audio content in teaching which will help inform the future of collective licensing in this space. Do you find you get increasing number of requests for content from streaming platforms and if so what do you do about it? How do you convince your academics to use content from licensed e-resources such as Box of Broadcasts instead of from social media? These and other questions will be discussed in the webinar.

We will be joined by Bart Meletti from CREATe at the University of Glasgow as well as Kate Vasili who is the Chair of the UUK / GuildHE Copyright Negotiation and Advisory Committee (CNAC). Please don’t forget to register for this session as it will be run as a closed session only open to those working for educational establishments.
